Bogotá, May 2026. interzum bogota 2026, organized by Koelnmesse and Corferias, concluded its 17th edition in the fair’s history and its third under the interzum brand in Colombia. The fair welcomed nearly 11,000 trade visitors, close to 200 exhibitors from 19 countries, and a program that brought together business, knowledge, sustainability, design, specialized suppliers, and regional networking.
This edition sent a significant signal to the market. Beyond the number of visitors, exhibitors highlighted an improvement in the profile of the attending audience: buyers with greater commercial affinity, professionals involved in specification decisions, companies seeking suppliers, and stakeholders with a genuine interest in initiating short-, medium-, and long-term discussions.
For interzum bogota, this assessment reflects an evolution. The trade show is no longer defined solely by the local history of furniture and wood. Today, it has a voice of its own within the interzum family and plays a broader role for Latin America and the Caribbean: bringing technology, materials, components, machinery, technical expertise, and specialized buyers to a region seeking greater participation in the global furniture manufacturing, wood processing, and interior design industries.
“We were pleasantly surprised by how the trade show serves as a strategic gateway to the markets of Central America and Latin America. We had conversations with visitors from countries such as Panama, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, among others, which opens up new opportunities and confirms interzum bogota as a key meeting point for the industry,” said Joaquín Verdú Hernández, Sales Director at Verdú, Spain.
The quality of the exhibition was also reflected in the brands present across the fair’s various sectors. Colombian companies such as Primadera, Toin, Ducasse, Sierras y Equipos, and Espumas Santafé shared the stage with international companies including Pelikano (a Novopan brand), Kronospan, Jowat, Hettich, Simonswerk, Biesse, Bäumer, Barrette Wood, Vantec, and Cortecloud. Together, they showcased the range of solutions currently driving furniture manufacturing and interior construction, from materials and components to machinery, software, forestry solutions, and specialized supplies.
“This edition leaves us with a very positive impression: Latin America and the Caribbean are participating more strongly in the international conversation regarding the furniture, wood, materials, and interior construction industries. At Koelnmesse, we see interzum bogota as a platform with real capacity to bring markets closer together, foster commercial relationships, and project the region’s productive talent onto a global network,” stated Angélica Garzón, Project Manager at Koelnmesse.
Business opportunities that extend beyond the four-day trade show
The Business Matching Event, held on May 13 and 14 with the support of ProColombia, brought together 50 buyers from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela, along with 70 participating exhibitors, including 23 community forestry initiatives supported by WWF as part of its work to promote responsible forest management and legal timber.
“The growth compared to the previous edition was very evident. This year we welcomed many more international visitors, and the caliber of Colombian visitors was also very high. The fair allowed us to close deals during the event and connect with key players in our market,” said Hernán Osorio, Hettich’s LATAM Sales Manager.
With 378 business meetings and projected sales of over USD 3 million, this event confirmed one of the fair’s most tangible benefits: every two years, interzum bogota allows brands to reconnect with the market, explore opportunities, establish new contacts, and build business relationships that extend beyond the immediate transaction.
At Corferias, we work to ensure that interzum bogota is a valuable trade show for those who come to do business, stay up to date, and find solutions for their companies. This edition saw a positive response from the industry, with a more specialized visitor base, a robust program, and a trade exhibition that connected real needs with national and international suppliers,” said Ana Garibello, Project Manager at Corferias for interzum bogota.
A trade show beyond the product
Under the concept “Roots of the Future,” interzum bogota 2026 expanded the experience with a commercial, academic, and practical agenda. The exhibitor showcase and the Business Matching Event were complemented by Smart Talks, developed in partnership with ACAI, the Colombian Association of Interior Architecture; and by the Center for Creation and Innovation, organized in collaboration with SENA, the national technical training agency, featuring workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises on processes, technologies, and production skills.
Forestry topics were given their own platform through Wood Talks and the Wood and Furniture Forum, organized with the support of Fedemaderas, the trade association representing Colombia’s forestry and timber industry. These events brought together experts, institutions, and partners such as WWF and Community Forests to discuss legal timber, traceability, conservation, communities, wood construction, and regional competitiveness.
Carbon Footprint, Legal Timber, and Sustainability on the Ground
interzum bogota 2026 incorporated a concrete initiative into its sustainability component: measuring and offsetting the fair’s carbon footprint, led by Community Forests, an environmental partner with expertise in forest conservation and community engagement. This initiative brought sustainability into a practical conversation for the industry: measuring impacts, offsetting them, and connecting companies with conservation models in the field.
Fedemaderas, WWF, and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development were partners who provided technical and environmental expertise on the responsible use of wood, traceability, forest legality, and the role of communities within the production chain.
The next edition of interzum bogota will take place from May 9 to 12, 2028, at Corferias.
